Removed a Massive Tumor and Saved the Spleen

The General Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, & Oncology department is proud to announce another major achievement. Led by Dr. Raed Al Marzooq, General Surgeon, Surgical Oncologist, and Colorectal Surgeon, the surgical team successfully performed a complex laparoscopic procedure to remove a large tumor from the spleen of a 28 year old patient.

Instead of removing the entire organ, we were able to save the spleen, which is crucial for the body’s immune system, especially in a young patient. This procedure was complex, with the tumor attached to the splenic capsule, but was completed successfully.

The patient has made a full recovery and is now in good health. Post-operative analysis of the resected tumor confirmed the tumor is benign, ensuring that the patient received complete treatment.
